Project:
My mother was looking for a place to put her printer/scanner/copier. She currently owns a beautiful oak desk topped with a gorgeous piece of granite. After seeing the headboard, she decided to ask me if I could build a matching stand for the printer. She also wants it to house her computer tower.
Design:
The design of the printer stand will match the desk as closely as possible. The trim work on the desk is a little fancy, so that will be offering me a learning experience. The dimensions will put the top of the printer/scanner/copier flush with the desktop. I will also be wiring in usb ports for easy access. I have not yet decided as to their exact locations.
Material:
My uncle Curt was kind enough to donate some rough oak planks he had in storage.

01 - The original oak boards.
02 - The rough boards cut to near specs.
03 - All of the material for the desk.
04 - I mark each board. The number and letter corresponds to the material breakdown list I created.
05 - I am in the process of planing each board to spec. (3/4") The three boards standing vertically will make up the top of the stand, notice the beautiful design on the right most board.
06 - Running the router down one edge of the board will give me a nice straight edge to cut from.
07 - Preparing the necessary boards for the biscuits and joining process.

11 - The seam looks wet because I wipe the excess glue off with a damp towel.
